WTH is RMRK’s Kanaria Skybreach?

Kanaria Skybreach is the name of RMRK’s upcoming metaverse. Its based on Kanaria birds, a flagship implementation of the RMRK 2.0 standard. Kanaria eggs - sold to raise funds by RMRK team - later hatched into the Kanaria birds.

What is RMRK?
RMRK (pronounced remark) is a standard for creating and trading NFTs on the Kusama blockchain. Kusama is a substrate based relay network that connects other blockchains (parachains). It is lightweight and only deals with providing security to the connected parachains and hence doesn’t support on-chain logic like smart contracts.
RMRK 1.0
The first version of RMRK used the system.remark function of Kusama to record messages that could trustlessly verify the minting and trading of NFTs on Kusama. You could also emote to NFTs on chain in RMRK 1.0
RMRK 2.0
This version of the the protocol adds the concept of nested multi-resource conditional NFTS. Nested means that an NFT can own other NFTs. This is useful in games where a character NFT can own weapon and special power NFTs.
These NFTs are multi-resourced meaning each NFT can have multiple renderings of itself (2D, 3D, side image, walking image) usable in different environments.
The NFTs can also change based on change in certain specified conditions such as block number like a character NFT automatically donning a Santa cap during Christmas season.
The Story of Kanaria
RMRK sold Kanaria egg NFTs earlier this year as a way to raise funds for the project. These eggs hatched into Kanaria birds depending on what kind of emotes it got. Kanaria birds are based on RMRK 2 standard.
The original collection had 9999 eggs. All unsold eggs were burned.
Kanaria Skybreach
Skybreach is gonna be the name of the RMRK metaverse. It will be a Play-to-Earn game. The universe will have a simple crafting and mining economy wherein any avatar will be able to mine base resources by putting your avatar to work
The metaverse will require on-chain logic, so RMRK is foraying into EVM with a grant from Moonriver. This would enable RMRK standard NFTs to be compatible on any EVM chain.
Land will be rentable and sellable in Skybreach. All land plots will be NFTs in the metaverse which can equip other NFTs such as restaurants or billboards.
The RMRK team will conduct land sales in early 2022 to raise capital to fund the development of this metaverse. The sales will be conducted in RMRK token which was fairdropped to Kanaria holders.
The Kanaria birds will be the original citizens to have access to the metaverse. Access to other avatars may later be granted by World Governance - the governance system of the Skybreach. Only Kanaria birds can cast vote in World Governance. The votes are weighted by bird rarity and the wallet’s RMRK balance.
Skybreach is planned to launch in Q4 2022. It will launch on an EVM compatible parachain. Follow @rmrkapp to stay updated with the latest developments of Skybreach.
